What benefits do members receive?
All
members receive:
- Our
newsletter, The Circuit, which is published three times a year.
- Discounts
on conferences and other programs.
- Access
to parent advisor services (hourly fees are additional; reduced fees
for families in need.)
- Membership
in the Learning
Disabilities Association of America, our parent organization.
- Coming

How does LDA-CT use member fees?
We
provide trained Parent Advisors who:
- Attend
school meetings with families to help them participate in a meaningful
way.
- Help
families understand their child’s tests and records.
- Educate
families about laws impacting children with disabilities.
We
provide in-depth training and mentorship to those who are interested in
volunteering as LDA Parent Advisors.
We
offer information sessions for audiences who care about children with
disabilities, focusing on such topics as:
- The
Basics: Navigating Special Education and Section 504
- What
to Say: Productive Communication in School Meetings
- Understanding
Tests, Measures, and Reports
- What
is Research-Based Instruction?
We
offer phone support to adults with ADHD and learning disabilities,
providing referrals to resources and offering a limited number of
low-cost assessments to adults in financial need.
We
act as a public voice for children with disabilities, providing data
and other information to the media, legislators, government
organizations, and others.
We
provide annual conferences with renowned experts who have helped
thousands of children with disabilities, including:
- Rick
Lavoie, creator of “How Difficult Can This Be? The F.A.T. City
Workshop” and best-selling author.
- Pete
and Pam Wright of Wrightslaw.com
- Connecticut
experts who make a positive difference in the lives of children with
disabilities, such as Elaine Zimmerman of the Commission on Children,
Margie Gillis of Haskins Reading Laboratory, and Susan Santora of the
